Unifor Education Centre

At Unifor there is an emphasis on education. The Paid Education Leave program (PEL) is a fund negotiated in our collective bargaining—Article 29.13. It is used to develop and offer courses on topics relating to workers’ experiences, assist in building critical thinking skills and provide an opportunity for every sector of the economy come together to learn, build relationships, strengthen our union, and emerge as leaders. 
All Unifor Local 2289 bargaining unit members are eligible to apply for these courses, which are offered at the Unifor Family Education Center (FEC) located on the shores of Lake Huron, in Port Elgin, Ontario.  Travel, accommodation, meals, and Monday to Friday time off is covered through our PEL fund.
At this time we are looking for expressions of interest from our members for the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 sessions.  While the schedule for the course times will not be released until June 2024, the following link will provide information of the courses offered:

If you are interested in putting forward an expression of interest to participate in this opportunity, please complete this form and email to reception@unifor2289.ca by May 31, 2024.  Preference will be given to members who have not yet had an opportunity to attend, and those selected will be notified by June 28, 2024.
